Commitment can be described in many ways like: loyal, dedication, faithfulness, and so much more. It blows my mind when I think about how COMMITTED God is to us. So committed that he sent his son to die for us (John 3:16), Committed to the point that it almost seems reckless on his part cause there is no guarantee that we will choose him (Joshua 24:15). When I sit and really think about His commitment to me, personally, I have to ask myself am I committed to Him the same way He is to me. Lately that is the question I have been challenging myself with. You see, I’m just a girl who discovered not too long ago that I am a daughter, bride, high priest, desired, loved and chosen. Since then I have been on this incredible journey with the Lord. If I’m being completely honest some parts of the journey were not hand in hand, sometimes I let go to walk ahead or to stay where I was. In those moments it was one of two things: comfort or discomfort, for example being too comfortable where I was that I didn’t want to leave or was unconformable so I let go. But what is commitment, really? It’s LOVE! Commitment isn’t made up of obligations or have to, it’s I get to choose you every day and night always and forever. God is so recklessly committed to us because he loves us so and doesn’t want any of us to miss out on it (ll Peter 3:9). See, Jesus has my full on YES, yes to be and do all he asks with joy in my heart because I love him. So in moments where I allow something, someone or even myself to lie and say “I have too” (because it’s the right thing it becomes an obligation instead of I get to) I am reminded of His commitment (LOVE) to me. See “We love because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19) in which Jesus also tells us:
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.
Matthew 22:37-39
So when I ask myself am I committed to Him the same way He is to me or you ask yourself. Know that we can do it because He does it. No matter how many times I or we let go He never does. HE chooses us daily and we get to choose and be fully committed with joy daily.
Always,
Marlyna
