Have you ever wondered why God said he would forgive sinners and how someone so wicked
would be forgiven for their crimes and iniquities…? Have you also wondered why God would allow such
wickedness and chaos into the world…? I have heard both sayings go; “why do bad things happen to
good people” and “why do good things happen to bad people.” The idea behind these sayings is that the
former holds an ideology that God doesn’t exist because so much evil exists, while the latter
counterfeits the former by saying God must exist because good things happen to evil people. We can
even quote Matthew 5:45 which says, “…He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends
rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” We need to understand that all humans are at fault as we all
have sinned. And by sinned, I mean we have stepped into the world with a broken relationship with our
creator Jesus. You see, we must understand the scripture Romans 3:23-24; “for all have sinned and fall
short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by
Christ Jesus.” You see a person is not justified by the good works they have done but instead they are
justified by his grace which comes by Faith in Christ. This understanding comes from Ephesians 2:8-9.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God
not by works, so that no one can boast.” It is by Faith a person has been made righteous! Heck! Romans
1:17 says, “…the righteous shall live by faith.” God is after your faith!
As mentioned earlier, we have sinned (broke relationship with God) but this is not contingent on
what we do but what we have faith in. Can you just take in the truth that we don’t have to work to get
to heaven or better yet get heaven into us. That Jesus, our creator and Lord made a way for us to
become one with our Heavenly Father and that is by having faith in him. Let’s investigate Romans 3:23
for a little bit. “We fall short of the Glory of God” we tend to view this as “we won’t match up to God’s
expectations so why try,” but want to know something… the Glory of God is meant to be sought after!
We are meant to seek out the Glory of God. That is how faith is stirred up and produced within us.
Proverbs 25:2 can help us better understand this; “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search
out a matter is the glory of kings.” God’s glory is to conceal a matter, but what kind of matter...?
Spiritual matters but it is also the glory of kings (which is us) to seek them out. You see God wants us to
seek Him in all kinds of matters. It doesn’t matter what background we came from or what religion we
were brought up in. What truly matters is that we put our faith in Christ! Cry out to the messiah, the
savior of the world! In the brightest of times and even the darkest of times seek out the creator of the
universe. Seek Him and you shall find Him. “Draw near to Him and God will draw near to you.” (James
4:8) God wants to be sought after that is what changes our heart. The pursuit of God within us changes
the way we live and that is by faith. No more striving or trying to do “better.” Get out of the mindset of
“do better” and get into the spirit of pursuing the King!

Commitment can be described in many ways like: loyal, dedication, faithfulness, and so much more. It blows my mind when I think about how COMMITTED God is to us. So committed that he sent his son to die for us (John 3:16), Committed to the point that it almost seems reckless on his part cause there is no guarantee that we will choose him (Joshua 24:15). When I sit and really think about His commitment to me, personally, I have to ask myself am I committed to Him the same way He is to me. Lately that is the question I have been challenging myself with. You see, I’m just a girl who discovered not too long ago that I am a daughter, bride, high priest, desired, loved and chosen. Since then I have been on this incredible journey with the Lord. If I’m being completely honest some parts of the journey were not hand in hand, sometimes I let go to walk ahead or to stay where I was. In those moments it was one of two things: comfort or discomfort, for example being too comfortable where I was that I didn’t want to leave or was unconformable so I let go. But what is commitment, really? It’s LOVE! Commitment isn’t made up of obligations or have to, it’s I get to choose you every day and night always and forever. God is so recklessly committed to us because he loves us so and doesn’t want any of us to miss out on it (ll Peter 3:9). See, Jesus has my full on YES, yes to be and do all he asks with joy in my heart because I love him. So in moments where I allow something, someone or even myself to lie and say “I have too” (because it’s the right thing it becomes an obligation instead of I get to) I am reminded of His commitment (LOVE) to me. See “We love because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19) in which Jesus also tells us:
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.
Matthew 22:37-39
So when I ask myself am I committed to Him the same way He is to me or you ask yourself. Know that we can do it because He does it. No matter how many times I or we let go He never does. HE chooses us daily and we get to choose and be fully committed with joy daily.
Always,
Marlyna
