This morning, in my time with God, I saw a picture of a boat that was anchored near the shore. This mental image brought with it a reminder of our relationship with God. When you try to anchor your boat, the terrain of the sea truly matters. If all that is below you is sand or mud, then your boat will not stay there, as the current will continue to have its way with you. But if you can find a rock to anchor to, your boat is going to be there until you decide to leave. Hebrew 6:19 says, “We have this hope as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.” So why do we set anchors near shore? Because we intend on getting out of the boat. Setting the anchor is critical in order to enjoy what is outside of the boat. Whether you are planning to go ashore, or like me you absolutely love to dive, you cannot get out of the boat until you are anchored. God is calling all of us into deeper waters, to get out of the boat and experience life (the ocean) with Him. Most people seem to only stay in the shallows, where it is safer. But God wants us to go to great depths with Him. I once read, “The anchor of our soul beckons us into the deep where God’s sovereign hand guides us into the unknown.” God isn’t calling you into the deep, sometimes scary waters, to leave you there. He wants to guide you, to hold your hand and lead you. To show you the many wonders that are found there. He is calling you into the unknown, to be with you through it all, so that you will see His character: Compassionate, Gentle, Merciful… He is proud of you. Allowing Him to take you deeper and deeper reveals these things. It is in the deep that we encounter a wonderful intimacy with God, as we get to see Him clearly as He guides us and leads us through scary and uncomfortable times. But without HOPE in HIM, you cannot even get out of your boat. He is the Rock. Hope is the Anchor. Set your Hope in Him, and be anchored in… Are you anchored?

Something you must know before going further is that we believe in JESUS and all he said and stood for! This in not about Religion but about Relationship. Talk about a true awakening when you actually have a real relationship with the living Christ and not just some fun facts about a "big guy in the sky". A true awakening when you encounter the living Christ and real transformation inside you happens. 2 Corinthians 5:17–Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. Things to know Jesus Loves you -Behold what love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God--and we are! Because of this, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 1 John 3:1 Jesus paid for your sins - “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 Grace is not an excuse to keep sinning -Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! Romans 6:15 God wants us to know HIM -Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. I was reading about Gideon today, and I couldn't help but notice this conversation between Gideon and the angel of the Lord.....Judges 6:12-18 I noticed that God was speaking to who He created Gideon to be, and not to who Gideon actually was at the moment. You See, God doesn't speak to our old self, He speaks to who He made us to be. But why, you ask? See, I too have asked this very question, which caused me to seek Him for an answer. For God to deal with our old self, He would have to consider that the cross was not enough because the cross was supposed to have brought about transformation in us. Also, for you to "deal" with your old self and try to "make your old self better "you would have to say the cross was not enough for you, as well... Romans 9:16 says, "So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy." So I have a question for you: What is the Gospel? Is it Jesus died to get you out of hell? Or Jesus died on a cross so that if you believe you can go to heaven? OR Jesus Loves you so much that he took your place, forgave all the sins you have ever or will ever do, and set you free, changing you from a fallen man to a resurrected/risen son/daughter of the Most High King & God? And that in doing so, He also gave you Righteousness to be His Ambassador, and be like God in character so that His kingdom would be lived out and preached all over the world? See, if that is the Gospel, we need to live it out. 1st) Start overcoming the things that have always beaten you down because God overcame 2nd) Start being the version of you that God sees Every time God called me to so something, I have felt I was not ready, or I was unqualified. I have typically answered "no, please, anyone else..." and like Gideon, He always replies, "Jeff, Never the less, GO!" When God is having a conversation with you & telling you to do something you don't feel your ready for (just like Gideon), we need to realize God is giving you authority to walk and accomplish it. Challenge of the Day: See yourself as He sees you and leave us a comment about it! |
